Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Librarian to support student learning by managing the school library’s resources and promoting a culture of reading and research. The ideal candidate will organize and maintain library materials, assist students and staff in accessing information, and create a welcoming and resource-rich environment that supports the academic curriculum. A passion for literacy, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to student development are essential for this role.

ISP Malaysia — ISP Malaysia operates Tenby Schools and other campuses, supporting students from ages 3 to 18 with a culture of engagement, professional development, and well-being for staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain a library system to provide administration support for effective access to library collections and resources by all users.
  • Manage resources in accordance with library policies for the school.
  • Order, receive, organize, catalog, and classify all reading materials.
  • Shelving new books, re-shelving items, stock checks, labeling, stamping, triggering, and preparation of stock for circulation.
  • Deal with enquiries from users regarding stock and library services.
  • Coordinate outreach activities (e.g., reading/storytelling sessions) based on weekly/monthly themes with teachers to encourage student participation.
  • Work with teachers on learning projects to cultivate reading habits among students.
  • Assist the principal and teachers in sourcing and acquiring required books/reading materials and develop library resources, establishing and publishing rules for library use.
  • Maintain student memberships for existing and new students.
  • Cooperate and network with other libraries/agencies.
  • Keep the library organized, clean, neat, and welcoming to visitors; prepare bulletin boards and displays regularly.
  • Remain current in professional practices, information technologies, and educational research applicable to school library programs.
  • Perform other duties related to school library administration as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science, Education, or a related field.
  • Professional qualification in library science or teacher-librarianship is an added advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a school library or an educational setting.
  • Familiarity with library management systems, digital resources, and cataloguing practices.
  • Strong understanding of how to support literacy development and promote reading among students.
  • Proficient in both English and Bahasa Malaysia, with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
  • Passionate about fostering a reading culture and supporting student learning across all subjects.
