Sales Engineer – Drilling & Electrical (Oil & Gas)
Identify and pursue new business opportunities for drilling equipment, tools, and related services.
Build and maintain strong relationships with drilling contractors, service companies, and operators.
Develop sales strategies to increase market penetration within the upstream oil & gas drilling sector.
Responsibilities
- 2. Technical Consultation — Understand customer drilling requirements and recommend suitable solutions.
- Provide technical support during client discussions, tenders, and product demonstrations.
- Familiarity with Petronas Technical Standards (PTS), API, ASTM, and ASME drilling-related standards will be an advantage.
- 3. Proposal and Quotation — Prepare and deliver proposals that meet technical and commercial requirements.
- Collaborate with internal technical teams and OEMs to confirm accurate pricing, specifications, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure timely and competitive submission of quotations for tenders and direct enquiries.
- 4. Market Research and Analysis — Monitor drilling market trends, competitor products, and customer demands.
- Gather and report customer feedback for continuous improvement and product development opportunities.
- Identify upcoming drilling projects and opportunities through industry research and networking.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, Oil & Gas Engineering, or related fields.
- 2–3 years of experience in sales/business development within the drilling sector of the oil & gas industry.
- Knowledge of drilling tools, oilfield applications, and electrical equipment will be a strong advantage.
- Proficient in written and spoken Bahasa Malaysia and English.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, independent, and result oriented.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships and influence decision-makers at all levels.
- Must have own transport and be willing to travel frequently to meet customers, partners, and suppliers.
- Able to assist Head of Business Unit for further development and diversification of products and services.
- Able to perform as back-up for other products and services as and when required by Head of Business Unit.
