The Sales Engineer develops and manages customer relationships, provides technical solutions, and drives sales by preparing proposals, securing orders, and supporting project execution to meet business targets.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with M&E consultants, switchboard manufacturers, dealers, and distributors.
- Identify customer needs and provide accurate technical and engineering support.
- Generate high-quality sales leads, follow up after initial contact, secure and renew orders, negotiate prices, complete sales, and arrange deliveries.
- Prepare technical advice, proposals, calculations, and cost estimations by studying building plans and related customer documents; consult with engineers and other professional and technical personnel.
- Work closely with internal teams to track project status and ensure smooth execution.
- Prepare sales reports and analyze market trends to support business decisions.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets, with willingness to travel when required.
Skills Required
- Excellent communication, comprehension, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
- Strong understanding of industry standards, market trends, business operations, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia and English (written and spoken); Mandarin is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Solar design, Earthing & Lightning, and Surge Protection Devices is a plus.
- Familiarity with standards such as MS IEC 62305 Part 1-4, IEC 61643-11, BS 7430:2011, IEEE 80.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; basic knowledge of AutoCAD.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant working experience.
