The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as a Grower of protected salad and herb crops. You will be responsible for the day-to-day cultivation and management of our crops, ensuring optimal yields, quality, and health. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of horticultural principles, pest and disease management, and crop nutrition within a protected environment. You will also play a key role in managing and developing a small team. This is an exciting opportunity to re-locate to Malaysia and develop your career, gaining experience of growing crops in this region of the world.You will be supported by the owner of the business Julian Roe who founded the business in the early 1990’s and has been instrumental in developing its growing infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing and overseeing daily crop management tasks, including irrigation, feeding, applying plant protection strategies, and plant health monitoring.
  • Developing and executing integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
  • Monitoring and maintaining crop nutrition programs.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant agricultural and food safety standards.
  • Managing and mentoring a small team of horticultural assistants, including task allocation, training, and performance reviews.
  • Maintaining accurate crop records and data.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement in growing practices.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure efficient production flow.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Further education qualification in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related discipline (e.g., HND, Foundation Degree, Bachelor's Degree).
  • BASIS registered (FACTS, Crop Protection or equivalent strongly preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience in protected cropping, specifically with salad and herb crops would be ideal.
  • Proven experience in people management, including leading and motivating a small team.
  • Strong understanding of plant physiology, crop nutrition, and environmental control within a greenhouse/protected growing environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to crop management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in using horticultural management software and standard office applications.
  • Full UK driving license preferred.
