A newly established joint venture manufacturing company is seeking a registered Safety & Health Officer to oversee compliance with safety regulations and develop safety management systems. The ideal candidate will ensure a robust safety culture, conduct training, and liaise with regulatory bodies while promoting safety awareness among employees.
We are seeking a registered Safety & Health Officer (Green Book Holder) to oversee and implement Workplace Safety & Health and Environmental Management Systems at our work sites. This role is critical to maintaining regulatory compliance and promoting a strong safety culture across our operations.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Implement Workplace Safety, Health, and Environmental Management Systems at work sites.
Develop and execute the Project Safety Plan according to requirements.
Advise and coordinate with the Operations team on all safety, health, and environmental matters.
Ensure compliance with OSHA 1994 and other relevant safety regulations.
Liaise with regulatory bodies such as DOSH (JKKP), DOE and BOMBA on safety compliance.
Maintain the risk management system, including HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control).
Organize and promote EHS activities to increase safety awareness.
Enforce safety standards; conduct training, briefings, and safety promotion programs.
Monitor and report safety performance, including safety statistics and trends.
Develop and maintain emergency response plans, occupational health programs, and permit-to-work systems.
Lead the safety team and subcontractors in implementing company safety systems on-site.
Ensure proper WSHE (Workplace Safety, Health & Environment) procedures and documentation.
Coordinate relevant monitoring (eg: ambient air, boundary noise, audiometric test and etc)
Conduct Safety inspections and ensure timely follow-up on findings.
Halt operations or escalate when there are safety or environmental deviations.
Investigate incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions and recommend preventive actions.
Coordinate with stakeholders, authorities, and client representatives on safety-related matters.
Support and conduct internal & external audits to ensure compliance.
Perform other safety-related duties as assigned by management
Requirement:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related field
Must be a Registered Safety & Health Officer (Green Book holder) with DOSH
Minimum 4 years of experience in SHO roles, preferably in manufacturing, or engineering industries
Strong knowledge of OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, and other Malaysian safety regulations and standards
Relevant environmental certifications are an added advantage
Experienced in safety audits, risk assessments, incident investigations, and delivering safety training
Willing to travel and must have own transport
