Responsibilities
CORE RESPONSIBILITY
To promote a safe conduct of work at Sherwin-Williams Selangor, Malaysia.
- Assist, guide, and lead safety & health committee members during meetings, inspections, and activities/programs. Provide necessary training.
- Determine the safety & health condition of employees at the workplace and make recommendations for top management's further action.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning, or occupational diseases; collect, analyze, and maintain statistics of all incidents.
- Conduct and oversee internal safety & health audits, evaluate results, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and verify compliance with OSHA Act and FM Act.
- Brief employees, visitors, contractors, or part-timers on safety & health matters before their duties or tours.
- Build document systems and other requirements according to ISO standards (ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015).
- Serve as management representative for the ISO integrated system.
- Oversee EHS activities at Sherwin-Williams Malaysia plant.
- Liaise with government Safety & Health departments regarding legal or local authority matters, assisting during inspections and visits.
- Handle consultation and communication with interested parties on safety & health policies or systems.
- Perform any other safety & health-related duties assigned by the plant manager.
- Attend safety & health certification programs (e.g., NIOSH or other approved providers).
- Perform responsibilities related to environment, health & safety, health, and management as assigned.
- Coordinate with other departments for information and assistance.
- Propose revisions to safety documentation and staffing as needed.
- Recommend manpower and training needs.
- Propose employees for external/internal training courses.
Qualifications
Education Background Requirements:
- Required: Bachelor degree
- Preferred: Bachelor degree with Safety and Health-related specialization
Knowledge & Experience:
- Required: Applied Science, Engineering, or Manufacturing
- Preferred: Environmental, Safety, Health, Chemical fields
Technical/Skill Requirements:
- Required: Registered Safety & Health Officer (Green Book holder)
- Preferred: Other safety & health related competencies/SHO
