About the role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Safety & Health Officer to join our team in Sandakan (Sabah) and Bintulu (Sarawak). As a Safety and Health Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety within our operations. You will be responsible for implementing safety programs, conducting audits, and providing training to staff to ensure a safe working environment.

What you'll be doing

Develop, implement and maintain safety and health policies and procedures in accordance with local regulations and company standards.

Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.

Facilitate safety training and awareness programs for employees across all levels.

Liaise with external regulatory bodies and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations.

Assist in incident investigation and reporting, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures.

Overseeing contractor management such as permit to work system, work authorization of contractor, job safety analysis and rules for contractors/visitors/transporters.

Manage and coordinate HSE Steering Committee team and meeting. Ensure that all agreed actions are completed within deadlines.

Ensure inventory of HSE items being maintained.

Prepare reports and presentations for senior management on safety performance and initiatives.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. Professional certifications such as Green Book is required.

Minimum 3 years of experience in safety and health management.

Comprehensive understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations and best practices

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
