Job summary
A prominent manufacturer in Malaysia is seeking a Safety Officer to ensure compliance with road traffic safety and occupational health regulations. - To ensure the compliances of road traffic safety and occupational safety and health measures at the workplace are within the requirements of applicable legislations such as (but not limited to) OSHA (Amendment) 2022, etc.
- Must be able to digest, implement and update measures etc based on specific standards i.e. ISO 45001, ISO39001 or Business Initiatives Standards/Model.
- To monitor, control and coordinate with HOD to provide a safe and healthy workplace for all staffs.
- To analyze and review in yearly basis at the minimum the hazards and risks of safety and health throughout the manufacturing processes of the company.
- To conduct workplace inspection at a predetermined interval using a checklist to ensure the effectiveness and efficacy of road traffic safety and safety and health practices, which including to identify any unsafe acts/ conditions that present at the workplace with reference to the company requirements, applicable legislative requirements, code of practices, etc.
- To setup and update chemical hazard management, which including evaluation, registration, control of use and safe storageby referring to the safety data sheet and the valid report of chemical health risk assessment.
- To investigate and/or to ensure Department PIC conduct investigation on any incidents (i.e., accident, near-miss, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or occupational disease) that were reported at the workplace with the proper report submitted within timely basis to the relevant parties.
- To coordinate the management of road traffic safety and occupational safety and health in compliance with the requirements.
- To liaise with external or other parties such as DOSH, BOMBA and/or external auditors etc.
- To conduct regular audits on all first aid, emergency and firefighting equipment and facilities to ensure regular replenishment, maintenance and inspection are being performed per schedule.
- To establish the compulsory road traffic safety, occupational safety and health teams, which including fire squad, first aid squad, evacuation team, regulatory compliance monitoring committee and emergency response team.
- To organise fire drill and evacuation exercises on both daytime and night at predetermined intervals.
- To perform internal monitoring on workplaces via timely measurements on noise level, safety performance etc.
- To arrange for external monitoring by competent third parties and ensure the compliances on the monitoring status, which including workplace chemical exposure, local exhaust ventilation (LEV), chemical health risk assessment (CHRA), noise risk assessment (NRA), ergonomic risk assessment (ERA), calibration, etc.
- To coordinate internal and external trainings on the aspects relate to road traffic safety and occupational safety and health performances.
- To coordinate health surveillances on the risky workers contracted with chemicals or noise identified through the related external assessments.
- To identify and ensure the compliances on the requirements of various second party social audits relate to the matters of occupational safety and health.
- To support the road traffic safety and occupational safety and health committee in organizing and implementing the related rules, regulations, policies, activities, procedures, instructions and programs at the workplace.
- To enforce any instructions or directives issued by the management from time to time.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.
- Passed NIOSH Safety and Health Officer Examination.
- Preferred at least 1 - 2 years of relevant working experience in the related field for this position (fresh graduate is encourage to apply).
- Team player with ability to work independently and under time pressure.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organization skill.
- Quick learner with well-developed logical, rational thinking skill.
- Fluent in English and report writing
- Familiar with ISO45001:2018 and ISO39001:2012.
