About the role

We are looking for an experienced Safety and Health Officer to join our dynamic team at AB Technology (M) Sdn. Bhd. in Kota Tinggi, Johor. As a full-time Safety and Health Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and compliant working environment for our employees. This is a strategic position that directly contributes to the overall success and wellbeing of our organisation.

What you'll be doing

Developing Safety Policies:

Drafting and implementing safety policies and procedures in alignment with local and international standards.

Identifying workplace hazards and assessing the risks associated with various tasks and processes.

Recommending control measures to mitigate risks.

Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace

Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.

Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy.

Ensuring Compliance:

Monitoring adherence to safety regulations like OSHA or ISO standards.

Conducting regular audits and inspections to ensure workplace safety.

Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on safety best practices

Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on safety performance and compliance

Collaborate with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure the company's safety and health

Continuously review and improve the company's safety management system practices are up-to-date

Working with management and employees to foster a culture of safety and raise safety awareness.

Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise, vibration, water & air pollution)

Execute administrative tasks on MyKKP Portal, which includes workplace registrations, notification of incidents and other routine submissions.

Work closely with regulatory agencies and other departments within the company to meet occupational safety and health objectives.

Provide OSH-related administrative support to safety committees, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and documenting meeting minutes.

Assist in OSH- related ad hoc duties as assigned by management.

Issuance of Permit to Work and Hot Work Permit, monitoring of compliance.

Hazard identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control identification for each work process/department.

Government liaison: Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Department of Environment (DOE), Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (BOMBA)

NADAPOD (to DOSH) reporting; JKKP 6, JKKP 7 & JKKP 8

Planning, coordinating and data review as well as corrective action planning for health, safety & environment monitoring

To provide assistance for safety before & during internal/external’s audit by ensuring all related documents at site is updated from time to time.

Training and Awareness:

Organizing safety training sessions for employees and management.

Promoting a culture of safety and environmental consciousness within the organization.

Investigating workplace incidents to determine the root cause.

Preparing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Investigate incidents and accidents, document findings and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence

To collect, analyze and maintain statistics on any loss time incidents, accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational poisoning and diseases or other hazards, which have occurred at the work place.

Developing and implementing emergency response plans.

Conducting drills to prepare employees for fire, chemical spills, or other emergencies.

Maintain pertinent information on Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and to ensure the relevant communication information is distributed to the responsible party.

Ensure first aid facility and welfare facilities for workers are in good condition.

Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Managing waste, pollution control, and other environmental aspects of the organization. Develop, implement and monitor safety policies, procedures and training programs to ensure compliance with all relevant occupational health and safety regulations

What we're looking for

Degree or diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Safety and Health Officer, preferably in the manufacturing, transport or logistics industry

Attended SHO competency training

Have Green Book

Strong knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations, best practices and industry standards

Excellent problem-solving, communication and training skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Proactive, detail-oriented and committed to promoting a culture of safety
