Job summary

WD is expanding its robotics automation capabilities within the manufacturing engineering team in Kuching, Malaysia. The Equipment Engineer will own and optimize substrate manufacturing equipment, driving automation integration, data-driven improvements, and operational excellence across processes.

The role demands hands-on equipment ownership, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the ability to translate engineering analysis into tangible yield and capacity gains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Experience with automation and control systems.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar CAD is advantageous.
• Programming in C++, Python, SQL, PLC is advantageous.
• Knowledge of sensors, communications, and IIoT concepts.
• Strong technical writing and data collection abilities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify opportunities for automation improvements.
• Assist in designing, testing, and implementing automation solutions (hardware/software).
• Support integration of control systems, sensors, actuators, and PLCs to optimize performance.
• Document project progress, specifications, and outcomes for future reference and compliance.
• Deliver factory/equipment digitalization solutions and IIoT proliferation.
