The South West Heritage Trust is an independent charity founded in 2014 to protect and share the heritage of Somerset, Devon, and the wider South West. Supported by local councils and national partners, it offers a range of heritage experiences across six sites. You can find out more about the work of the Trust at: https://swheritage.org.uk/
The South West Heritage Trust is seeking an experienced consultant or consultancy team to undertake a strategic review of its Learning Service. This key piece of work will inform how we evolve our educational offer to remain relevant, effective and financially sustainable in a changing landscape.
The Trust delivers a range of services that engage children and young people with heritage – through class visits, in-school workshops, and loans of heritage materials. These services support curriculum-based learning and help build lasting connections between young people and local heritage. However, with shifts in education policy, funding models, and audience needs, we are looking to reassess and reimagine our approach.
The review will:
Evaluate the current service model, costs and ways of working
Benchmark against other organisations in and beyond the heritage sector
Identify emerging trends and opportunities for growth
Engage with key stakeholders including schools, home educators, staff and partners
Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations for the future of the service
We are looking for a consultant with strong experience in business model evaluation and service transformation, ideally within the heritage, cultural or education sectors. Excellent stakeholder engagement and analysis skills are essential.
The contract value is up to £7,000 (including expenses), with final deliverables due by 28 November 2025.
Become a member of a supportive and resourceful network
of museum and heritage educators.
