Job description

The Sales & Operations Manager will oversee the end-to-end retail operations, team leadership, and strategic execution for The Travel Store’s multi-brand retail outlets, including LOJEL, Echolac, and Kaufmann mono-brand shops. This role ensures seamless store operations, drives sales performance, manages frontline staff, and acts as a key liaison for brand partners and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership, operational excellence, and business acumen to align retail execution with company growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Retail Operations & Team Management
    • Oversee daily operations across 24 stores.
    • Lead, train, and motivate frontline staff (including promoters, business partners, and shop leaders) to achieve sales targets and service standards.
    • Conduct monthly training sessions for shop leaders to reinforce SOPs, product knowledge, and customer engagement strategies.
    • Resolve staffing conflicts, performance issues, and operational bottlenecks proactively.
    • Collaborate with the internal diversity teams to streamline SOP execution, audits, and frontline support.
  2. Sales & Merchandising Strategy
    • Work closely with merchandisers to optimize stock allocation, new arrivals, and inventory turnover based on sales trends.
    • Monitor sales performance against targets, implementing corrective actions for underperforming stores/brands.
    • Plan and execute roadshows, clearance fairs, and promotional events, especially on weekends, with the frontliners or marketing team.
  3. Assist on Leasing & Stakeholder Management
    • Liaise with mall leasing departments on contract renewals and tenant requirements.
    • Represent the company in meetings with landlords and brand partners when necessary.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Partner with the marketing team to align digital campaigns, social media content, and in-store promotions.
    • Coordinate with departments such as HR, Finance, Design, and Logistics for resource allocation and branding needs.
  5. Strategic Growth Initiatives
    • Assist the COO in strategic planning, including store expansions, process improvements, and customer experience enhancements.
    • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to recommend operational adjustments.
Qualifications & Competencies

Education: Minimum Advanced Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience: 5+ years in retail operations or sales management, preferably in multi-brand fashion, luggage, or lifestyle retail.

Leadership: Proven ability to train, mentor, and manage diverse teams (frontliners, promoters, licensees).

Communication: Fluent in English (written/spoken). Proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin is a plus.

Problem-Solving: Resourceful in resolving staff conflicts, operational inefficiencies, and customer issues.

Technical Skills: Familiarity with retail SOPs, inventory systems, and basic cost analysis skills.

Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities (retail operations, leasing, brand management).
