We are seeking a dynamic and strategic media leader for the position of Retail Media Lead, Malaysia & Indonesia. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for establishing and spearheading our retail media business in Malaysia and Indonesia. You will take ownership of the retail media P&L and play a crucial role in building the business from the ground up.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with senior stakeholders from Commercial and Marketing, and engage with potential external partners to establish operations and accelerate sales. Additionally, you will be instrumental in developing attractive product offerings and competitive pricing strategies that will enhance growth and profitability.

Is this your next challenge in Retail Media Business?

The challenge is to:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a robust retail media strategy to achieve retail media profitability and growth in the Malaysia and Indonesia market.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with leadership from other functions (e.g. Marketing, Commercial) to ensure alignment on the strategy and secure adequate support for retail media initiatives.
  • External Partnerships: Identify, shortlist and collaborate with potential external partners to ramp up operations and accelerate sales.
  • Product Strategy: Develop and implement retail media solutions (e.g. onsite display ads, sponsored search, in store digital screen & audio etc.) leveraging the Group-level retail media platform.
  • Pricing Strategy: Conduct thorough market research to understand competitive pricing and brand preferences, and develop optimal pricing models.
  • Business Development: Build and grow relationships with key CPG brands and media agencies to secure annual media commitment and achieve revenue growth.
  • Team Leadership: Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing team to support the retail media business.
  • Ad Operations: Supervise day-to-day retail media operations to ensure smooth functioning and continuous optimization of efficiency.

Do you have experience in Digital Marketing and related field?

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field; a master's degree or MBA is preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in retail media, digital marketing, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership position in Malaysia and/or Indonesia
  • Proven entrepreneurial track record in building a business from the ground up, ideally within a corporate environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in stakeholder alignment, with a proven track record of successfully navigating complex organisations comprising multiple business units
  • Experience in the retail media industry is highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of the media market dynamics in Malaysia and/or Indonesia including media agency landscape and competitor propositions
  • Expert knowledge in digital marketing across channels including performance marketing (Meta, Google, Programmatic), CRM (Salesforce, Braze, Insider, GAM) and affiliate marketing
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing P&L
  • Experience in managing and mentoring cross-functional teams to achieve high performance
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa
