About Our Client

Our client, a European multinational company with an established manufacturing presence in China, is currently expanding its operations into Malaysia. As part of this strategic growth, they are seeking experienced industry professionals to join their team as a Resident Quality Engineer.

Job Description

  • Act as the on-site quality representative at supplier location.
  • Monitor, inspect, and report on incoming plastic components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) for supplier-related quality issues.
  • Lead PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), FAI (First Article Inspection), and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities with suppliers.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by validating and qualifying supplier processes and capabilities.
  • Conduct regular supplier audits and assessments (process audits, quality system audits).
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and production teams to resolve supplier-related issues quickly and effectively.
  • Maintain detailed quality documentation and generate regular reports on supplier performance.
  • Train and guide suppliers on quality requirements and improvement plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply base using lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

The Successful Applicant

  • Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or a related Engineering field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in supplier quality, ideally within plastic injection molding or component manufacturing.
  • Solid understanding of plastic materials, molding processes, and tooling.
  • Experience with quality tools and systems: PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Willingness to travel and work at supplier sites as required.
  • Mandarin is required to communicate with counterparts in China, as product and process documents are in Mandarin.
