Job summary

KLK OLEO is seeking a chemist to deepen understanding of home and personal care needs amid evolving regulations and a push for sustainable products. You will design, execute, and report oleochemical experiments to the Manager, Care Solutions Research.

A PhD or Master’s in Chemistry with at least five years of Applied or Colloid Chemistry is required. Hands-on formulation in personal care and the ability to generate publishable data are essential.

Qualifications

• A PhD or Master’s in Chemistry with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry or academic experience in Applied Chemistry or Colloid Chemistry.
• Life sciences graduates will not be considered.
• Hands-on experience in the home and personal care industry, able to conduct finished products performance assessment including physicochemical, stability, sensory, detergency, scrub test, etc.
• Experience in formulating personal care; toiletries or household products including shampoo, shower gel, cream, lotion, moisturizer and household cleaning products.
• Strong knowledge of colloidal chemistry and consumer benefits of home and personal care ingredients is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed understanding of the current and future needs in the home & personal care industry under changing regulatory requirements and growing end-user desire for more sustainable products.
• Efficiently design, propose, execute and report the outcome of application of oleochemicals on home & personal care experiments to Manager, Care Solutions Research.
• Perform physicochemical characterisations and performance evaluation of ingredients and formulated home & personal care products according to compendial or non-routine approaches.
• Delivers assigned tasks within agreed timelines and proactively provides progress updates to supervisors and stakeholders.
• Collaborates effectively with team members and provides support to achieve team objectives.
• Prepare technical reports as well as detailed reports on the procedures, protocols, and experimental data in a suitable format for publication in relevant scientific journals and/or patent disclosure if applicable.
• Support any laboratory activities, to include general upkeep as well as chemical storage and movement and equipment usage and maintenance.
