RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE (RYOYU BAKING)
Job Purpose:
- Assist in Bakery Development of myNEWS Ryoyu Baking.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct product development, including designing products, creating prototypes (weighing, preparation, shaping including Danish pastry, baking, simple packaging), and inspecting prototypes (with QA).
- Attend product development meetings, prepare samples for testing, and record minutes.
- Produce product prototypes upon request.
- Manage materials related to manufacturing.
- Conduct testing on dough and develop new dough recipes to improve product quality.
- Examine product prototypes and check expiration dates.
- Create test runs, specifications, manufacturing process manuals, and product information.
- Coordinate inspection contents, determine expiration dates, and provide product info to JAKIM.
- Perform sensory evaluations regularly to ensure product quality.
- Research new ingredients, request samples, and conduct tests.
- Stock ingredients and share inventory info with purchasing, considering import customs clearance periods.
- Survey market trends at least twice a month.
- Participate in food exhibitions and study sessions for skill enhancement.
- Purchase competitor products (e.g., from FamilyMart) and create product catalogues.
- Support negotiations with new business partners, including product design, sampling, and improvements for launches.
- Assist with ad hoc tasks assigned by superiors.
Requirements:
- Experience in bread making processes such as weighing, preparation, shaping, and baking.
- Proficiency in computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
- Good hygiene practices suitable for a food manufacturing environment.
- Valid typhoid injection card.
- Willingness to work in shifts.
- Capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of baking experience, including Danish pastry.
- Fluency in English and Malay.
- Relevant certificates in bread making.
