The successful candidate will work with Associate Professor Ee Pui Lai Rachel on the design and development of stable peptide drugs and biomaterials as next generation antimicrobial therapeutics capable of tackling multidrug resistance under a project on Multifunctional Peptide Nanonets as Novel Antimicrobial Agents.
The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Develop and perform microbiological, biochemical, biophysical and cellular assays e.g. bacteria culture, flow cytometry, ELISA and Western blotting.
- Analyze and present experimental data in a clear and concise manner, demonstrating a good understanding of its utilization and implications in the context of drug discovery.
- Support laboratory housekeeping, purchasing, safety check, SOP writing and other administrative and compliance-related processes.
Qualifications / Discipline:
- Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences or related disciplines.
Skills:
- Proficient in designing and conducting experiments within areas of cellular work and biomaterials.
- Experience in tissue sample handling and confocal microscopy.
- Attention of details, strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks, deliver results within timelines.
- Good written and oral communication skills, meticulous record-keeping.
- Possess strong interpersonal and collaborative spirit.
- Strong interest in entrepreneurial activities and willingness to attend technopreneur workshops, pitches and competitions.
