Job summary

PET WORLD NUTRITIONS SDN BHD is seeking an experienced R&D/Product Development professional to lead confectionery formulation, product improvement, and cost optimization. You will work closely with Marketing, Production, Quality, and Procurement to deliver innovative, high-quality, cost-effective products that meet customer expectations.

The role requires strong knowledge of food formulation, ingredients, product development, and food safety, with 5+ years of R&D experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of R&D / Product Development experience, preferably in confectionery or food industry.
• Strong knowledge of food formulation, ingredients, and product development.
• Experience in product trials, scale-up and commercialization.
• Good understanding of food quality and food safety requirements.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication and project management skills.
• Able to work independently and lead cross-functional projects.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D, new product development, formulation, product improvement, and cost optimization for confectionery products.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Production, Quality, and Procurement to develop high-quality, cost-effective products.
• Manage new product development and formulation activities; conduct trials and scale-up.
• Monitor raw material quality; develop alternative ingredients and suppliers.
• Drive formulation improvements and cost-saving initiatives; support production with formulation issues.
• Handle technical enquiries from customers and consumers; coordinate with Marketing on new projects.
• Conduct technical evaluation of new products, ingredients, and processes; maintain R&D records.

Responsible for leading Research & Development, new product development, formulation, product improvement, and cost optimization activities for the confectionery business of Network Food Industries, a subsidiary of Pet World Group.

The role works closely with Marketing, Production, Quality, Procurement, and other departments to develop innovative, high-quality, cost-effective products that meet customer and consumer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage new product development and formulation activities.
• Develop and improve confectionery products and formulations.
• Conduct product trials, testing, and scale-up.
• Monitor raw material quality and develop alternative ingredients and suppliers.
• Drive formulation and cost-saving improvements.
• Support Production in formulation and process-related issues.
• Handle customer and consumer technical enquiries.
• Work with Marketing and Operations on new product projects.
• Conduct technical evaluation of new products, ingredients, and processes.
• Maintain R&D records, formulations, specifications, and trial reports.
• Keep updated on new confectionery ingredients, products, and market trends.
• Support exhibitions, product launches, seminars, and other company activities when required.
