BD is a leading global medical technology company based in Kuala Lumpur. This role oversees regional transportation operations for GAR, focusing on escalations, performance of service providers, and end-to-end claims resolution to ensure reliable, compliant, and cost-effective inbound and outbound shipments.
The position involves governance, continuous improvement, and collaboration across regions. Ideal candidates have a strong background in ocean/air/road freight, Incoterms, and QA/GxP
We are the people who give possibilities purpose
BD is one of the largest global medical technology companies in the world. Advancing the world of health™ is our Purpose, and it’s no small feat. It takes the imagination and passion of all of us—from design and engineering to the manufacturing and marketing of our billions of MedTech products per year—to look at the impossible and find transformative solutions that turn dreams into possibilities.
This role leads day-to-day regional transportation operations for GAR, which generates more than $2B in annual revenue and spends more than $66M a year on freight. It owns escalations, service provider performance, non-conformances (NCMs) and claims, so that GAR gets reliable, compliant and cost-effective inbound and outbound deliveries. It also supports global and regional transportation programs and leads regional governance and continuous improvement.
Own complex and high-priority shipment escalations, including revenue-risk, back-order and must-win SKUs, from detection through resolution and closure.
Lead recovery actions with source sites, service providers and Global Transportation, such as expediting, re-routing, mode changes and capacity solutions.
Run regional Logistics S&OE reviews and give GAR SCM leadership clear updates on shipment risks and mitigations. Resolve documentation, customs-release and delivery-order issues that hold up shipments.
Create and run monthly service reviews with carriers and freight forwarders, covering KPIs, scorecards, performance gaps and action plans. Roll out the carrier performance management framework in GAR, including standard KPIs and quarterly business reviews.
Ask service providers for root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCA/CAPA) on recurring failures and follow each through to closure. Use performance data to inform lane allocation, mini-tenders and RFQ decisions.
Manage transportation-related claims with Quality, including investigation, root cause, CAPA and closure within required timelines. Govern damage, loss and temperature-excursion claims end to end with ECIB, Risk Management, carriers and Source/Quality teams, and maximize recovery.
Keep a single claims register with aging, outcome and CAPA tracking, and report on it monthly.
Resolve CTSI freight invoice exceptions and payment issues. Maintain rate card regional governance, including rate validation, charge codes and leakage control.
Support freight budgeting, forecasting and savings tracking from RFQ through budget to actuals.
Support GAR delivery of global and regional programs, including Project44, Cost to Serve, CTSI and lead time governance. Represent operational requirements and support testing, deployment and adoption. Manage assigned workstreams, including milestones, risks and status reporting.
Maintain SOPs, standard definitions, work instruction documents and the GA Transportation RACI across global, regional and country levels. Lead CI initiatives that improve OTIF, lead time reliability, data quality and cost. Guide and support the Regional Transportation Coordinator on track-and-trace and escalation work.
Work with Country Logistics, Global Transportation, Global Procurement, Quality, Finance, GDP/Planning and service providers.
