AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, to ensure continual access for our customers. You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other roles. Collaboration across AWS is key to maintaining high safety and security standards while providing extensive capacity at low costs. This role, "Regional Safety Engineer – DCPD," is for an experienced H&S Specialist, Engineer, or Manager supporting AWS Data Center Planning and Delivery programs. You will partner with various internal teams (Real Estate, Permitting, Construction, Security, Procurement, etc.) to meet safety goals and enhance safety culture. Externally, you'll engage with contractors and suppliers to ensure safety standards and continuous improvements.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Develop and deploy H&S programs covering leadership, planning, operational controls, and compliance with jurisdictional and AWS standards.
  2. Review risk assessments, coordinate safety planning, and ensure contractor compliance.
  3. Conduct safety kickoff and review sessions, document data, and manage safety resources.
  4. Identify improvement opportunities and collaborate with operational teams on safety issues.
  5. Perform audits, analyze safety data, and report trends and risks.
  6. Visit sites regularly, host safety meetings, and review contractor performance.

A typical day involves using data to manage safety risks, communicating effectively, and developing safety competencies within teams. You will need diplomacy, patience, and tact to build trust and advise teams on safety matters.
