Job description

Objectives of the Position

  • Define and lead the implementation of regional regulatory strategy for assigned Professional & Specialty Solutions (P&SS) and Herbicide portfolio to support business growth of BASF Agricultural Solutions in the Asia Pacific region.
  • Provide strategic regulatory guidance to Asia Pacific countries to secure and defend BASF’s License to Operate on the assigned portfolio.
  • Maintain close communication with global regulatory affairs regarding projects in Asia Pacific to prevent impacts on License to Operate in other regions.
  • Address regulatory issues and coordinate scientific support to country regulatory teams using internal/external expertise for new and existing registrations.
  • Steer activities related to registrations on the assigned portfolio to ensure timely approvals and defense of products/active ingredients.
  • Advise regional business teams on regulatory issues and trends affecting sales and strategy.
  • Collaborate with P&SS Leadership and Herbicide Project Teams to drive business growth by supporting key projects.

Main Areas of Responsibilities and Key Activities

  • Provide strategic regulatory guidance to Asia Pacific countries and Global Regulatory Affairs to secure and defend registrations of the assigned portfolio.
  • Define and optimize innovative regional and country registration strategies to support business goals and expedite market launches, while anticipating potential issues and trends.
  • Lead the implementation of regional registration plans and budgets, coordinating activities across scientific, marketing, global registration, technical development, compliance, and supply chain teams.
  • Ensure alignment between Global and Regional Regulatory Affairs on portfolio regulatory decisions that may impact broader regions or portfolios.
  • Manage registration dossiers: drive content development, review for consistency, communicate decisions, and facilitate scientific support and negotiations with governmental authorities.
  • Maintain up-to-date regulatory project files and stay informed on major regulations and trends affecting the portfolio.
  • Support skill development of country regulatory managers in processes, project management, and regulatory changes.
  • Contribute to stewardship and risk mitigation efforts with stakeholders to promote proper use and compliance of BASF products.
  • Participate in project management processes (STRIVE) with marketing and country teams to ensure rigorous project review and selection.

Job Requirements

  • Scientific background with at least a Bachelor's degree and preferably a Master’s in relevant disciplines such as entomology, chemistry, toxicology, or agronomy.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in regulatory affairs, preferably across multiple countries, with experience in working with regulatory authorities or in public health, pest control, and crop protection in Asia Pacific.
  • Strong scientific knowledge and understanding of regulatory procedures, requirements, and guidelines related to agrochemicals, public health, and pest control.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
