The Raw Cutting Machinist is responsible for operating and maintaining cutting machines to process raw material blocks/slabs according to production specifications. The role ensures accuracy, safety, and efficiency throughout the raw material preparation stage before further fabrication.
Machine Operation
- Operate raw cutting machines (bridge saw, block cutter, gang saw or waterjet) to cut quartz blocks/slabs.
- Set cutting parameters (speed, depth, alignment) based on material type and job order.
- Ensure proper machine warm‑up, calibration, and alignment before cutting.
Material Handling
- Load and unload raw quartz blocks/slabs using forklift, crane, or lifting tools.
- Inspect raw material for cracks, defects, or irregularities before cutting.
- Label and tag cut pieces according to production schedule and traceability requirements.
Quality Control
- Measure cut dimensions using measuring tools (tape, caliper, square ruler).
- Ensure cut accuracy, squareness, and thickness meet engineering specifications.
- Report defects, deviations, or abnormal material conditions to supervisor or QC.
Maintenance & Safety
- Perform routine machine cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance.
- Monitor blade condition and assist in blade replacement or alignment adjustments.
- Follow safety protocols when handling heavy materials and sharp cutting tools.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area to avoid slip hazards and contamination.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record daily production output and material usage.
- Update machine logbook, maintenance checklist, and cutting reports.
- Communicate with production planner on job priority and material readiness.
Job Requirements
- SPM/STPM or equivalent; technical/vocational background is an advantage.
- Minimum 1 year experience in machining, stone cutting, or manufacturing.
- Good understanding of dimensions, tolerances, and measuring tools.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting.
- This is a fixed‑term contract employment for 6 months. If the contract is successfully completed and both sides are satisfied, there are high chances to be converted to a permanent employee.
