Job summary

Royal Selangor International Sdn Bhd is seeking an R&D Engineer to drive innovation in pewtercraft, lead projects improving materials, processes and product development, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver results on time and within budget.

The role involves exploring new technologies, supporting automation, developing prototypes and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while communicating findings through reports and presentations. Based in Kuala Lumpur with global reach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in Research & Development and/or manufacturing environments.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering engineering projects.
• Knowledge of robotics, PLC systems, electrical and electronic engineering principles.
• Understanding of die-making and manufacturing machinery.
• Knowledge of chemical engineering principles would be an added advantage.
• Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyse data and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, driven and results-oriented.
• Disciplined, organised and able to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and development projects to improve materials, manufacturing processes and product performance.
• Explore and develop innovative applications and technologies related to commercial pewtercraft.
• Collaborate with Technical Development (T&D), Production and other stakeholders to drive product and process improvements.
• Conduct feasibility studies, testing and validation of new materials, equipment, and manufacturing methods.
• Develop prototypes and support new product introduction activities.
• Identify opportunities for automation, robotics and process optimisation.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide engineering solutions to improve productivity and quality.
• Manage project timelines, resources and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.
• Prepare technical reports, documentation and presentations on project outcomes and recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
