Job Description – Quant Systems Developer (Low Latency Trading)
Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Quant Systems Developer to design, build, and optimize mid- to high-frequency trading systems for US equities and cryptocurrency markets.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work closely with quant researchers, traders, and infrastructure engineers to deliver production-grade, ultra-low latency trading systems operating at microsecond-level performance.
Key Responsibilities
System Design & Development
- Build and optimize ultra-low latency trading systems using modern C++ (C++17/20).
- Develop market data handlers, order execution gateways, and risk management modules.
- Create backtesting and simulation frameworks to support quant research and strategy validation.
Performance Optimization
- Profile and tune code for sub-millisecond execution and high throughput.
- Eliminate network, kernel, and serialization overheads in execution paths.
- Optimize order routing and feed handling across multiple venues and protocols (FIX, ITCH, OUCH, WebSocket, native APIs).
- Partner with quant researchers to bring strategies from research into production.
- Work with infrastructure teams on bare-metal deployments, low-latency networking, and time synchronization (PTP).
Monitoring & Reliability
- Build fault-tolerant, high-availability systems with real-time logging, monitoring, and alerting.
- Implement robust disaster recovery mechanisms for mission-critical trading operations.
Requirements
Technical Skills
- Expert in C++17/20, including multi-threading, lock-free data structures, and template metaprogramming.
- Strong experience with low-latency optimizations (NUMA, kernel bypass, RDMA, DPDK, TCP/UDP tuning).
- Deep knowledge of market microstructure for US equities and crypto.
- Familiar with market data protocols (ITCH, OUCH, FIX, WebSocket) and exchange APIs.
- Skilled in Linux systems programming and network programming.
- Hands-on experience with build systems (CMake, Bazel), profilers, and debuggers (perf, gperf, valgrind).
- Experience with real-time data processing and event-driven architectures.
- Understanding of mid-/high-frequency trading strategies and execution algorithms.
- Familiarity with risk management and real-time position tracking.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in low-latency trading systems or high-performance computing (HPC).
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Experience with GPU acceleration (CUDA) or FPGA programming for ultra-low latency workloads.
- Proficiency in Python for integration scripts or data analysis.
- Knowledge of cryptography and blockchain protocols.
- Exposure to distributed systems and microservices architectures.
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
- Clear communication and teamwork across cross-functional teams.
- High ownership mentality with focus on reliability and performance.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge trading systems for global markets.
- Competitive package with performance-based bonuses.
- High-impact role in a fast-growing quantitative trading firm.
- Collaborative environment with quants, engineers, and researchers.
Work Schedule
- Must be available during US trading hours: 3 PM – 12 AM, Kuala Lumpur time.
