Job summary

A materials manufacturing company in Malaysia is seeking a Project Quality Engineer to manage quality control in the APQP process, handle customer complaints, and maintain IATF16949/ISO14001 systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in quality management systems and be able to collaborate cross-departmentally to optimize processes. Job description

General Description

1. Complete the responsibilities of a project quality engineer in the APQP process, including quality control plan preparation, quality objectives setup, inspection tools development and acceptance, trial products FTR tracking, trial problems solving, DV/PV experiments summary and follow-up, and PPAP submission.

2. Customer complaint handling. Organize cross-departmental teams to analyze the root cause, formulate countermeasures, and verify their effectiveness to prevent recurrence of problems.

3. Maintain IATF16949/ISO14001 management systems, organize and host customer and third-party audits, and ensure the certificates' validity.

Job responsibilities and tasks

1) Project quality management

  • Complete the responsibilities of a project quality engineer in the APQP process, including quality control plan preparation, quality objectives setup, inspection tools development and acceptance, trial products FTR tracking, trial problems solving, DV/PV experiments summary and follow-up, and PPAP submission.
  • Identify and escalate quality risks in new project development, including potential risks in design, validation, and process development.
  • Participate in change management processes, including change review, risk identification, change delivery, change tracking, and evaluating the need for customer approval.

2) Setup quality standards and specifications

  • Establish product quality inspection standards and specifications to ensure compliance. Identify key quality control points and inspection items based on product characteristics and customer needs. Collaborate with relevant departments to optimize standards and train personnel.
  • Maintain and revise project-related data such as control plans, inspection instructions, and inspection reports.

3) Quality issues handling

  • Lead customer complaint investigations and requests to ensure satisfaction.
  • Analyze quality problems, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive measures. Track their effectiveness to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Manage customer feedback and drive continuous improvement; oversee customer site service staff.

4) Quality and process improvement

  • Provide quality training to relevant personnel to enhance awareness.
  • Monitor performance indicators, review regularly, and follow up on corrective actions for unmet targets.
  • Maintain and host audits for IATF16949/ISO14001 systems, close audit findings promptly.
  • Optimize company processes for efficiency.
  • Analyze quality data and issues, and prepare reports.

5) Others

  • Report to line manager.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by the line manager.
