A leading automotive components manufacturer is seeking a Quality Engineer responsible for developing and implementing quality systems in a new joint venture specializing in EV battery casing and precision components. The role requires a degree in Engineering and 3-5 years of quality assurance experience, focusing on zero-defect quality targets and collaboration across teams to enhance product quality. Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred for effective communication with clients.
The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems and processes to ensure that the products manufactured meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality standards.
As part of a newly formed JV specializing in EV battery casing and precision components, the Quality Engineer will play a key role in setting up quality frameworks, supporting production ramp-up, and driving continuous improvement activities to achieve zero-defect quality targets.
Proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin is preferable to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and implementation of quality management systems (QMS) compliant with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and other relevant standards.
Support APQP/PPAP activities for new product introduction and customer approval.
Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone) for internal and external quality issues.
Develop inspection and testing procedures and ensure effective implementation on the production floor.
Monitor key quality KPIs such as first pass yield, defect rate, customer complaints, and cost of poor quality.
Work closely with suppliers to ensure incoming material quality; lead supplier audits and development where required.
Participate in internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, production, and supply chain teams for process improvements and product quality assurance.
Maintain and calibrate quality equipment and manage control of quality documents.
Support training of operators and technicians on quality standards and tools.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field).
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in quality assurance/control in manufacturing, preferably in automotive or precision component industry.
Familiar with quality tools and methodologies such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, 8D, APQP, PPAP, and control plans.
Working knowledge of international quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
Experience with statistical analysis and quality software tools is an advantage.
Familiar with machining, stamping, or die-casting processes related to EV battery or similar applications is preferred.
