Job description

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily operations of the QC laboratory in a furniture manufacturing environment.
  • Supervise QC team members and ensure adherence to testing protocols and SOPs.
  • Perform quality testing on raw materials (wood, fabric, foam, metal, and adhesives), in-process components, and final products.
  • Evaluate material strength, chemical resistance, and durability using standardized testing methods.
  • Ensure all materials and finished products meet internal quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Use scientific knowledge to analyze test results, investigate variances, and implement improvements.
  • Minimize customer complaints by identifying and eliminating potential causes of product rejection.
  • Maintain accurate lab documentation and prepare quality reports for internal use and customer audits.
  • Manage chemical usage, storage, and safety in the lab environment.
  • Collaborate with the Production, R&D, and Purchasing teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and support to QC personnel on testing methods, material handling, and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.

Required Skills

  • Experience in quality control or lab management; experience in the furniture manufacturing industry is a strong advantage.
  • Strong command of English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Mandarin. Candidates fluent in Mandarin will be prioritized as the role requires handling Mandarin-speaking customers and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with furniture materials (wood, MDF, adhesives, foam, coatings, etc.) and their testing requirements.
  • Proficient in laboratory testing equipment, procedures, and chemical handling.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Pay range and compensation package

RM3500 - RM3999
