Job summary

Thales Malaysia invites a seasoned QHSE leader to drive quality, safety, and environmental performance across manufacturing and services. You will oversee ISO 9001/14001 frameworks, lead internal and external audits, manage risk, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

This role requires 5–8 years in QHSE within industrial settings, a degree in engineering or safety discipline, and certification as Lead Auditor is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in engineering, industrial engineering, quality management, safety & health, or related field.
  • Certified Lead Auditor (ISO 9001/14001/45001) preferred.
  • Safety and Health Officer (SHO) certification is an added advantage.

  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) per ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
  • Lead internal and external audits, certification audits, customer audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Drive risk management, incident investigations, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Foster a strong QHSE culture across the site and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Quality Management
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards.
  • Ensure compliance with customer requirements, contractual obligations, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead internal and external audits, certification audits, customer audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Monitor quality performance indicators and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Manage non‑conformance investigations, root cause analysis, and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure effective document control and quality record management.
  • Support operational excellence initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
Health & Safety
  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with local occupational health and safety legislation and corporate requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety inspections.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses and ensure effective corrective actions.
  • Coordinate emergency response programs, evacuation drills, and business continuity activities.
  • Lead safety awareness campaigns and employee training programs.
Environmental Management
  • Implement and maintain Environmental Management Systems in accordance with ISO 14001 requirements.
  • Monitor environmental aspects, impacts, and compliance obligations.
  • Drive waste reduction, recycling, energy conservation, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor environmental performance metrics and improvement programs.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Act as management representative for QHSE-related certifications and audits.
  • Ensure compliance with customer security, quality, and operational standards.
  • Maintain risk registers and support business risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain QHSE policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Support regulatory inspections and customer assessments.
Training & Leadership
  • Promote a strong QHSE culture across the organization.
  • Develop competency programs and conduct QHSE awareness training.
  • Prepare and present QHSE performance reports to management.
  • Lead cross‑functional improvement teams and special projects.
Continuous Improvement
  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Establish measurable objectives and monitor achievement of QHSE targets.
  • Support customer satisfaction and business growth initiatives through process improvements.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Serve as the focal point for all QHSE matters within the site.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, customers, auditors, and certification agencies.
  • Perform any other assignments directed by management.
Special Requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and risk management systems.
  • Certified Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems, Occupational Safety & Health, and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing or card personalization operations is an advantage.
  • Strong auditing, risk assessment, and incident investigation skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
Education, Qualifications, and Special Training
  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
  • Certified Lead Auditor (ISO 9001/14001/45001) preferred.
  • Safety and Health Officer (SHO) certification is an added advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in QHSE management within manufacturing, production, industrial, or service operations.
  • Proven experience managing audits, certifications, compliance programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience dealing with customers, regulators, and certification bodies.
