The QC Manager oversees daily quality control activities at the car assembly plant, ensuring all vehicles and components meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role leads inspection teams, implements quality protocols, and drives real-time problem-solving to minimize defects and ensure compliance with customer specifications, industry certifications (e.g., IATF 16949), and internal KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Control Systems

- Develop and enforce inspection procedures, checklists, and testing protocols for raw materials, in-process components, and finished vehicles.

- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and OEM-specific quality requirements.

- Supervise QC teams in conducting visual, dimensional, and functional inspections at critical production stages.

- Identify defects using tools like torque verification systems, and leak testing etc.

- Lead immediate containment actions (e.g., quarantine, rework) for non-conforming products.

- Manage QC supervisors, inspectors, and technicians, providing training on standards, tools, and safety protocols.

- Foster a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.

4. Data Analysis & Reporting

- Track and report quality metrics (e.g., defect rates, First Pass Yield, PPM) to plant leadership.

- Use statistical tools (SPC, Pareto charts) to identify trends and prioritize corrective actions.

5. Process Audits

- Conduct daily layered process audits (LPA) to verify adherence to work instructions and quality standards.

- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team on internal/external audit readiness.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Partner with Production, Engineering, and Suppliers to resolve root causes of defects (e.g., tooling issues, assembly errors).

- Support new model launches by validating processes and conducting PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) reviews.

- Drive Kaizen projects to reduce rework, scrap, and inspection cycle times.

8. Regulatory & Safety Compliance

- Ensure all QC activities align with OSHA safety standards and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.

- Experience: 7+ years in automotive quality control, with 3+ years in a supervisory role.

- Technical Skills:

Proficiency in QC tools (SPC, FMEA, MSA, GD&T).

Hands-on experience with metrology equipment (CMM, calipers, gauges).

Familiarity with QA software (e.g., SAP QM, Minitab).

Certifications: Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or IATF 16949 Lead Auditor preferred.
