Job Title: QA/QC MEP Manager – Data Center Project

Location: Shah Alam, Malaysia

Contract Type: 1-Year Renewable Contract

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient QA/QC MEP Manager to oversee the quality assurance and quality control aspects of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for a hyperscale data center project in Elmina, Shah Alam. The successful candidate will ensure that all MEP installations meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance, in line with the data center specifications and local regulatory requirements.

The QAQC Manager reports to the MEP/Construction Manager. The QAQC Manager oversees, evaluates, and develops project-specific Quality Control (QC) plans. The QAQC Manager also puts policies and procedures in place to help keep the project on track and ensure compliance.

Responsibilities includes but not limited to the following:

• Manage development and implementation of project-specific Quality Control (QC) Plan in coordination with project team, the owner/architect team and contract documents.

• Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with owners, architects, consultants, main contractor, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure fully compliant project.

• Lead tactical initiatives for project quality improvements.

• Create structure and supportive environment to develop high performing team, provide professional development opportunities, and engage in coaching and mentoring relationships.

• Manage direct reports, deliver timely performance feedback, and contribute to performance appraisals during annual performance cycle, utilizing talent management systems.

• Develop comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of project-specific contract documents (including Turner’s contract, plans, specifications, and applicable codes).

• Execute project-specific QC Plan in a manner that engages all project staff, main contractor, subcontractors, vendors and consultants for compliance and consistent execution.

• Establish and manage punch list prevention plan.

• Knowledgeable of project-specific engineering procedures, including document control, submissions management, creation and tracking of Requests for Information (RFIs), material samples, documentation and tracking of potential cost changes, documentation and tracking of approved change orders within budgetary requirements.

• Implement project-specific QC Plan in coordination with project safety plan and contractor’s Pre-Task Plan (PTP).

• Understand project execution plan to manage and direct QC activities at appropriate stages of work, in line with and in support of project schedule.

• Continually improve and apply strategies and tools to efficiently and effectively document, track, and record compliance with contract documents.

• Expand development of QC plan as project progresses to improve quality procedures.

• Ensure completion of project closeout documentation and quality reports.

• Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Personnel Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years working experience and an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience relating to QA/QC practices.

• Bachelor’s Degree/Prost Graduate Diploma/Professional Degree in Civil/Electrical/Mechanical or equivalent.

• Experience working with Data Centre/semiconductor plants/critical facilities, and understanding its requirements, systems and processes is an added advantage.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational ability, and proficiency with computer applications.

• Computer skills: Ability to use MS Excel/Word to create reports and spreadsheets, MS Outlook, use of MS Project for schedule updates.

• Willing to relocate if required.

• Familiar with local or international quality standards.

• Familiar with quality management software such as Procore, Plangrid, etc.
