Job summary

UMECH CONSTRUCTION SDN BHD is seeking a Quality Assurance and Control Engineer with a minimum of 5 years in civil construction. You will conduct site inspections, manage NCR closures, and ensure adherence to approved method statements, ITPs and PQP.

Strong documentation and coordination with consultants are essential. You will maintain QA/QC records, prepare reports, and contribute to safety and quality assurance across multidisciplinary civil, architectural, and structural works.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Building or Construction Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in QA/QC for civil construction.
• Proficient in quality management documentation and standards.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and tests to ensure construction quality per drawings and specs.
• Prepare NCR closures, non-conformance reports, and site instructions.
• Coordinate with consultant and site in-charge for inspections and meetings.
• Maintain QA/QC documentation, test results, and inspection requests.
• Prepare monthly progress reports following PQP.
• Audit site quality systems and implement corrective actions.
• Support risk assessments and ITP/JSA development.

Job description

Perform all daily inspections and tests of the scope and character necessary to achieve the quality of construction required in the drawings and specifications for all works under the contract performed ON or OFF site.

Carry out inspection and checking for all quality-related procedures in the site and ensure activity at the site is as per the approved method statement and inspection test plan.

Coordinate with the consultant’s representative and site In-charge for inspection and meetings about quality problems including the closure of Non-compliance reports.

Report to the project manager or top management, control, and monitor all activities related to QAQC works.

Responsible for the closure of Non-conformance, NCR; site instruction, SI; request for Information/Inspection (RFI), site diary etc.

Prepare monthly progress reports for submission to the client.

Taking care of QA/QC documents of the entire project including certificates. Calibration, test results, inspection requests, non-compliance reports and site instruction/observation, materials delivered and other QA/QC documents.

Responsible for the quality and workmanship of every activity, thorough knowledge of all phases of engineering construction relating to civil, architectural, and structural discipline interfacing the multidisciplinary operations.

Develop a method statement for the activity including risk assessment and job safety environment analysis and inspection test plan and checklist based on the specifications of the project.

Carry out an internal audit at the site as scheduled in the project quality plan, PQP.

Liaise with the technical engineer for submission of material approval submission to a consultant.

To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as so instructed by the management.

Requirements :

Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Engineering (Civil), Building or Construction Management, or Equivalent.

At least 5 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

Proficient in MS Office and knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Project will be an added advantage.

Motivated with a good working attitude.

To work independently with integrity and commitment to assigned duties.

Preferably specializing in QAQC or equivalent.
