QA/QC ENGINEER (MECHANICAL)

We are currently seeking a highly experienced QA/QC ENGINEER (MECHANICAL) to join a leading Oil & Gas company in Qatar for a major solar project.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • IRCA Certified QMS Lead Auditor.
  • Valid certifications in:
    • Welding Inspection (CSWIP 3.1 / AWS-CWI)
    • Painting Inspection (BGAS Grade 2 / NACE Level 2)
    • NDT Level 2 in RT, MT, UT, and PT (ASNT/ACCP) — mandatory.
  • Advanced certifications such as IIW-Welding Engineer, NDT Level 3, or advanced NDT (e.g., PAUT, TOFD, Auto UT) are advantageous.
  • Professional memberships with organizations like ASNT, AWS, TWI, NACE, ASQ-CMQE, MCQI-CQP, or similar are desirable.
Experience:
  • Minimum 15 years in major Greenfield/Brownfield process plant construction in Oil & Gas, including large-scale solar projects.
  • Experience with major EPIC contractors or end-user organizations, overseeing QA/QC in piping and mechanical disciplines, including construction and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC practices, testing requirements, and acceptance criteria for piping systems, equipment, and related systems.
  • Proficiency with international codes and standards such as ASME, TEMA, ASTM, API, ISO, AWS, BS EN, NACE, IOGP, Shell DEP, and MESC.
  • Experience in reviewing and approving Quality Plans, ITPs, QCPs, MARs, and inspection procedures.
  • Expertise in inspection/testing of structural fabrication, piping, static/rotating equipment, and testing activities.
  • Ability to manage inspection teams, coordinate inspections, and monitor KPIs.
  • Experience implementing Quality Surveillance Programs, CMS, ITRs, TIV, FPD, and PQHC.
  • Skilled in conducting audits, quality walkthroughs, and supplier pre-qualification.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex QA/QC issues and disputes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support contractors in preparing QA/QC documentation such as ITPs, QCPs, welding/NDT/painting procedures, and MARs.
  • Assist in reviewing and approving QMS, engineering, and procurement documents, resolving discipline issues.
  • Ensure QA/QC compliance at construction sites and vendor facilities.
  • Participate in review meetings, QA walkthroughs, and coordination meetings.
  • Conduct surveillance and inspection of fabrication, erection, and mechanical works, including surface preparation, welding, equipment installation, and pressure testing.
  • Identify non-conformities, implement corrective actions, and raise NCRs.
  • Verify material certificates and maintain traceability records.
  • Monitor preservation systems and calibration records.
  • Ensure inspection/test status tracking systems are maintained.
  • Participate in project audits and pre-qualification assessments.
  • Conduct activity-level audits on quality documentation and processes.
  • Oversee contractor/subcontractor inspectors and report to the supervisor.
  • Enforce adherence to the Quality Management System.
  • Spend at least 50% of work time at construction sites, ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
