Job summary

Woh Hup Group in Johor, Malaysia is seeking an experienced QA/QC Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to lead quality assurance activities for a data centre project. You will implement ITPs, monitor M&E installations, and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards on site.

Working with the project team, you will coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, and clients, review test records and NCRs, and support pre-commissioning and handover with thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years QA/QC experience in M&E construction works.
• Experience with a main contractor is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with ITPs, method statements, WIR/MIR, NCR management and corrective actions.
• Exposure to data centre M&E systems, critical power, HVAC, testing and commissioning is an advantage.
• Able to interpret engineering drawings, specs and project quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain QA/QC procedures, ITPs, method statements and quality checklists for M&E works.
• Conduct inspections and monitor installation of mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, fire protection).
• Oversee electrical installation works (LV/MV, transformers, switchgear, gensets, UPS, busduct, containment, earth).
• Ensure compliance with shop drawings, specs, standards and contractual requirements.
• Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients and subcontractors; manage WIR and MIR activities.
• Monitor subcontractors' workmanship; identify and rectify non-conformances within timelines.
• Prepare and maintain QA/QC documentation (inspection records, test reports, material approvals, NCRs).
• Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams for pre-commissioning, testing and handover.
• Verify testing/inspection activities per approved procedures and project requirements.
• Attend project quality meetings and resolve technical/quality issues.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical) to join our project team for a data centre development in Johor. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and monitoring quality assurance and quality control activities for M&E works, ensuring all installations comply with approved drawings, project specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable standards.

Working for a main contractor, the candidate will coordinate closely with the project management team, M&E subcontractors, consultants, and client representatives to ensure quality compliance throughout the construction, testing, and commissioning stages of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC procedures, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality checklists for M&E works.
• Conduct inspections and monitor the installation of mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water systems, ventilation, and fire protection systems.
• Oversee electrical installation works, including LV/MV systems, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS, busducts, cable containment, and earthing systems.
• Ensure all M&E works comply with approved shop drawings, technical specifications, project quality standards, and relevant statutory requirements.
• Coordinate and conduct inspections with consultants, client representatives, and subcontractors, including WIR (Work Inspection Request) and MIR (Material Inspection Request) activities.
• Monitor subcontractors' workmanship and ensure all non-conformances are identified, recorded, and rectified within the agreed timelines.
• Prepare, review, and maintain QA/QC documentation, including inspection records, test reports, material approvals, NCRs, corrective action reports, and quality records.
• Coordinate with construction and commissioning teams to ensure proper quality control during pre-commissioning, testing, commissioning, and system handover.
• Verify that testing and inspection activities are completed in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements.
• Conduct regular site quality audits and inspections to identify potential quality issues and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
• Ensure proper documentation and compilation of M&E handover dossiers, as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and final quality records.
• Attend project quality meetings and coordinate with the project team to resolve technical and quality-related issues.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of QA/QC experience in M&E construction works, preferably in data centre, mission-critical facilities, industrial, or large-scale commercial projects.
• Experience working with a main contractor is highly preferred.
• Good knowledge of M&E installation, inspection procedures, quality documentation, and construction standards.
• Familiarity with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), method statements, WIR, MIR, NCR management, and corrective action procedures.
• Exposure to data centre M&E systems, critical power infrastructure, HVAC systems, and testing and commissioning activities will be an advantage.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project quality requirements.
• Good coordination and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with subcontractors, consultants, clients, and internal project teams.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced construction site environment.
• Willing to be based at the project site in Johor, Malaysia.
