A leading fast-food chain in Malaysia seeks an Assistant Quality Assurance Manager to lead quality standards and crisis management within their supply chain. This role involves extensive supplier collaboration to ensure compliance with food safety standards and operational excellence. Provides and communicates Supply Chain solutions to meet customer needs & food safety standards whilst maximizing business outcomes.
Participates in menu management and development process & provide expertise advice & solutions on new supplier selection & assist new suppliers to comply with McDonald’s standards for any new product identified

Key customers include Suppliers, Operations Development, Marketing, Menu Management, Restaurants and Franchisees.
Position Purpose

Quality Standards Management
Develops and implements quality standards for the whole supply chain which comply with McDonald's Corporate and local requirements
Develops and manages the business relationship between McDonald's and its suppliers to ensure they comply with all aspects of McDonald’s safety and quality standards
Provides on-going coaching and support for supplier development, directs suppliers toward becoming self-managed, whilst facilitating achievement of McDonald's expectations
Tracks supplier performance to ensure they meet McDonald's product specifications including specifications for physical, chemical and microbiological attributes.
Ensures continuous improvement and product optimization in partnership with Suppliers.
Demonstrates a genuine understanding and need for internal and external parties to comply with the highest
McDonald's quality standards and is passionate about reinforcing them at every opportunity
Lead team to provide technical support for enquiries regarding product advice, raw product complaints, foreign objects, health department regulations and food safety communications
Defines, implement & establishes requirements for the food safety system and works with operations to maintain restaurant food safety standards and food handling and sanitation procedures to meet McDonald's standards and legislative requirements
Validates the quality system looking at product quality and operational aspects, analysing inspection results and trends in operations
Educates and trains stores on a regular basis for on-going improvement
Manages New Menu Development Process by formulating product lines and product testing for stability of ingredients, shelf life, quality standard and sensory taste.
Works with Menu, RSG & Training to develop new menu launch materials, assists in training and carries out regular reviews on product quality with operations
Provide expertise advice to RSG for identifying suitable equipment for new product development and new equipment release and carries out appropriate tests to check suitability in terms of micro analysis and finished product quality.
Actively participates in Cross Functional Meetings, Product Cutting, adding value through personal knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance requirements and best practices
Builds and maintains working relationships to clarify communications, generate best solutions and deliver information in a timely fashion to uphold high Quality Assurance standards
Builds strong, cohesive partnerships between McDonald's and suppliers to facilitate adherence to and greater understanding of QA best practices
Manages the supplier complaint incidence and completes trend analysis to develop effective supplier action plans, incorporates performance into supplier business reviews.
Regularly visits stores to observe, check, monitor and provide retraining when necessary to ensure compliance with Quality Assurance standards and procedures
Reviews feedback from customer to ensure the product meets specification and develop market action plans when necessary
Crisis Management
Lead & identifies ways to manage a crisis situation, or redesigns the processes without compromising food safety and food quality
Develops contingency plans to effectively manage crisis situations in future
Lead the process of providing follow up training, implementation of action plans to prevent reoccurrence
Health & Safety
Proactively participates in the on-going management of health and safety in the workplace by performing all duties with due care to the health and safety of self and others within the guidelines of the relevant policies and procedures and by following reporting guidelines for accidents, hazards and potential hazards.
Works with cross functional team to develop implementation plans
Reviews implementation with operations and makes recommendations for improvement.
Workflow Management
Balances individual and supplier project workloads to maximise progress against key deliverables.
Leads and is accountable for population and maintenance of QA databases and master files.
Develop & implements systems to streamline and gain supply chain efficiencies. Manages project plans for implementation of
Participates in and may drive formulation of company policies for emerging issues (e.g. animal welfare, GMO, product ingredients).
People
Role models the utilization of effective people systems within the Quality Assurance Department
Exemplifies ethical standards and corporate values through actions and decisions.
Builds strong, cohesive partnerships between McDonald’s and our major suppliers.
Foster teamwork and coordination among major suppliers.
Provide consistent coaching to team members, suppliers for continuous improvement.
Customer Support
Provides technical assistance to the Customer Recovery Function to ensure customer complaints and enquiries regarding food and packaging are managed efficiently and effectively.
Manages the development, communication and implementation and maintenance of a system for reporting, retrieval and trend analysis of customer complaints and uses information to develop effective supplier action plans.
Organizational Capacity
Manages multi-faceted complex projects, demanding project schedules while providing strong leadership in a calm and focused environment.
Ability to engage with government stakeholders such as MOH and JAKIM
Ability to conduct academic presentation in seminar and talk
Be accountable for prioritization of projects. Addresses barriers to achieving results of lagging performance.
Monitors organizational resources to ensure that strategic priorities achieved and the business plan is fully executed.
Shares areas of knowledge, unique experiences or key skills with others.

Superior communication skills
Key Qualifications:
Degree in food-related discipline such as food science, microbiology, chemistry, or food industry management.
A minimum of 5 year of relevant Quality Assurance management experience in food manufacturing/ poultry processing/ restaurant, will be an added advantage.
