Job description

In view of our expansion, we require the services of a dynamic and motivated candidate for the following position in our fully air-conditioned plant in Bayan Lepas Industrial Zone, Penang.

Responsibilities:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of materials within an organization, ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time, and also in the right quantity.

The job responsibilities for a Purchasing Manager in our organization are as follows:

1. Develop and implement material procurement strategies to meet production and operational requirements.
2. Manage supplier relationships and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
3. Collaborate with production teams to synchronize material availability with production schedules.
4. Monitor and manage material costs to ensure alignment with budget targets.
5. Ensure that material deliveries align with production timelines to minimize delays.
6. Identify areas for improvement in material management processes and implement solutions to increase efficiency.
7. Lead a team of buyers, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth operations.
8. Adjust purchasing schedules to account for seasonal fluctuations in material demand or market conditions.

Requirements:

In order to undertake & accomplish all the above, the successful candidate will need to have:

• At least a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or its equivalent.
• At least 5 years of working experience in a purchasing-related function.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak decent English and Mandarin, besides Malay. Mandarin is necessary as we deal with numerous suppliers from China & Taiwan.
• Strong problem-solving skills to address supply chain &/or transportation issues.
• Ability to evaluate and implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
• Strong leadership skills to manage a team of procurement personnel.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with suppliers, vendors, internal departments, and upper management.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint skills.
