The Purchasing Engineer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, components, and services required for production or operations. This role requires strong technical knowledge to evaluate supplier capabilities, ensure material compliance with engineering specifications, and optimize cost-efficiency while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management (preferably in a manufacturing or engineering environment).
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Good understanding of technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in vendor management and strategic sourcing.
- Familiarity with ISO standards or quality management systems.
- Knowledge of materials, components, or equipment used in electronics manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and service.
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and requirements to ensure purchased materials comply with engineering standards.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.
- Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve technical or supply-related issues.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain a supplier database.
- Coordinate with finance and logistics to ensure accurate invoicing and delivery tracking.
- Assist in cost reduction initiatives through vendor development or process improvement.
- Stay updated on market trends, new materials, and technology to support procurement strategies.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
