Job summary

A leading company in Johor Bahru is seeking a Purchasing Officer to manage supplier relationships and inventory control. The ideal candidate should have strong communication skills, experience in purchasing, and the ability to work independently under pressure. Qualifications

  • Must be able to speak & understand English, Mandarin, and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Preferably at least 2 years’ working experience in a related field.

  • Negotiating with manufacturers/suppliers for competitive costs.
  • Inventory management and control by regularly updating records.

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and managing Purchase Orders to manufacturers / suppliers
  • Being resourceful and conducting research on potential products and suppliers, and comparing price vs quality to ensure the best deals for the company
  • Negotiating with manufacturers / suppliers for the most competitive costs
  • Working closely with the QS for costing on tenders and quotations
  • Co-ordinating and following up with warehouse team and suppliers daily to ensure goods are received on time
  • Inspecting purchased products upon delivery and reporting any issues timely
  • Developing relationships with manufacturers / suppliers and building trust
  • Inventory management and control by regularly updating and maintaining records and practicing prudent purchasing to prevent over or under-stocking
  • Monitoring market prices and planning purchases ahead to help the company save costs

Requirements:

  • Must be able to speak & understand English, Mandarin AND Bahasa Malaysia
  • Possess at least Certificate, Diploma or Degree in any field of study or equivalent
  • Preferably at least 2 years’ working experience in a related field
  • Pleasant personality, good working attitude with drive and ownership
  • Able to communicate with all levels of people and work independently and under pressure
  • Able to forecast and do forward planning with high flexibility and adaptability
  • Willingness to learn
