Job summary

Maxis is seeking a dedicated engineer to drive Solar PV projects from design through commissioning in Malaysia. You will oversee engineering, installation, and post-installation activities, ensuring safety and compliance while coordinating with installers, customers, and authorities.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering or renewable energy and certification in SEDA GCPV design, with hands-on experience in CAD software and solar design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Renewable Energy, or related discipline.
• SEDA GCPV Design certification.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Proficiency with standard solar design tools and CAD software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and technical assessments for Solar PV feasibility.
• Design Solar PV systems; prepare proposals, layouts, SLDs, and engineering docs.
• Review drawings from EPCC partners for compliance with Maxis standards and regulations.
• Supervise installation, testing and commissioning activities; prepare commissioning docs.
• Perform testing and commissioning and compile reports.
• Coordinate with authorities (TNB, ST, SEDA) for approvals and compliance.
• Provide technical support during pre-sales and respond to customer inquiries.
• Coordinate with internal teams and EPCC partners to ensure delivery.
• Perform other duties to support Solar PV projects.

Why does this job exist and why is it critical?

Drive Solar PV projects by overseeing engineering, installation, and commissioning to ensure standard and safety compliance, safe, and timely delivery while coordinating with installers and customers throughout design, installation and post installation stages.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to determine the feasibility of Solar PV installations.
• Design Solar PV systems and prepare technical proposals, PV layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), and other engineering documents.
• Review engineering documents submitted by EPCC partners to ensure compliance with project requirements, Maxis' standards, and industry regulations.
• Supervise Solar PV installation, testing, and commissioning (T&C) activities, and prepare the required commissioning documentation.
• Perform testing and commissioning of completed Solar PV systems and prepare all required commissioning documentation and reports.
• Liaise with TNB, ST, SEDA, and other relevant authorities to obtain project approvals and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical support during pre-sales activities and respond to customer technical inquiries.
• Coordinate with internal teams and EPCC partners to ensure successful project delivery.
• Perform other duties and support Solar PV projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Renewable Energy, or related discipline.
• SEDA GCPV Design certification
• Strong ability to prepare and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Able to use standard solar design and CAD software.
• Hands-on experience in installation, testing, and commissioning is an added advantage.
• Familiarity with MS 1837, MS 2692, OSHA Act, ST guidelines, and TNB requirements.
• Comfortable working in an on-site environment and willing to travel to project locations
• Language: English and Bahasa Malaysia
