About Us

UNICEF Malaysia is part of the United Nations Children's Fund, a global organisation dedicated to providing humanitarian aid and developmental assistance to children and mothers in developing countries. Our mission is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to survive, thrive and reach their full potential. We work across various sectors to advance children's rights and wellbeing, and we are committed to creating meaningful impact in communities across Malaysia. Our values of integrity, accountability and inclusion guide everything we do, making UNICEF Malaysia an inspiring place to work for those passionate about making a difference in children's lives.

About the Role

We are seeking a Promoter to join our retail and community engagement team in Johor Bahru on a Full‑time basis. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of children whilst developing your skills in retail, customer engagement and brand representation. You will be based in Johor Bahru, Johor, and will be instrumental in driving our retail and promotional activities in this region.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Represent UNICEF Malaysia at retail locations, events and community engagement activities with enthusiasm and professionalism
  • Promote UNICEF products, campaigns and fundraising initiatives to customers and members of the public
  • Engage with customers to explain UNICEF's mission, programmes and the impact of their support on children's lives

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative to meet targets and objectives
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including potential weekend and evening shifts as required
  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with retail point-of-sale systems is advantageous
  • Reliability, punctuality and a professional appearance
  • Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional languages are desirable
What We Offer

Working with UNICEF Malaysia means being part of an organisation that genuinely cares about its employees and the communities we serve. We offer a competitive salary package commensurate with experience and market rates. Beyond financial remuneration, we provide a supportive and inclusive work environment where your contribution is valued and recognised. You will have opportunities to develop your skills in retail, customer engagement and fundraising, with access to ongoing training and professional development. Our team culture emphasises collaboration, integrity and purpose-driven work that makes a real difference. We are committed to promoting work-life balance and supporting the wellbeing of our staff through flexible working arrangements where possible. Additionally, employees enjoy the satisfaction of working for a globally respected organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children worldwide.

Since 1954, UNICEF has joined forces with the Government and the people of Malaysia to transform the lives of children across the nation. We are proud and happy to know that we have helped achieve improvements in health, nutrition, water and sanitation, formal and informal education as well as welfare services for children in rural and poor urban areas.

However, we are acutely aware that while these advances are significant, there's still a long way to go. Lasting improvements in the social, legal and protective environments provisions for children happen only with irrevocable change in policy based on the best interest of the child.

In our 2011-2015 Country Program, we set about improving the availability of knowledge and data on issues affecting Malaysia's children to build a firm base for policies that could address remaining social gaps. A number of issues were addressed, specifically in the areas of health, education and protection.

For the 2016-2020 Country Program, our priorities are directly in line with the strategic directions of the Eleventh Malaysia Plan (11th MP), which is the key development strategy and planning instrument of the Government of Malaysia.

UNICEF collaborates with Malaysian partners in government, corporations or civil society organisations, and other UN agencies in the country. We are honoured to be part of Malaysia's journey to improve the lives of its children while developing the nation, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
