Job summary

SBM Offshore N.V. in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance professional to implement robust quality management across complex oil & gas projects in a global operating environment.

You will collaborate with project teams, clients, and vendors to promote quality culture, perform audits, and drive continuous improvement of processes, systems, and tools essential to safe and compliant project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering or related quality discipline.
• Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or equivalent.
• 10+ years in Oil & Gas with senior-level experience.
• Proven knowledge of ISO 9000, ISO/TS 29001, ISO/IEC 80079-34.
• Experience with quality investigations, RCA, CAPA.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary support to Project Quality Manager for quality management within projects.
• Act as key contact for clients on quality matters in absence of PQM.
• Support execution of project quality plan and audits.
• Establish and maintain the Project Quality Audit Plan; conduct audits and close corrective actions.
• Review quality-related documents submitted by vendors.
• Conduct quality induction sessions for stakeholders including vendors and subcontractors.
• Monitor resolutions of quality notifications and escalations; ensure timely reporting.

Purpose

• You are responsible for implementing quality assurance measures within your project to ensure compliance with all standards, rules, and requirements established by the Company, Regulators, Clients, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Within the project organization, you provide essential support for quality management within the project.
• You assist the Project Quality Manager in liaising with the Project Team, Clients, contractors, and vendors on following up quality related matters.
• Your role is instrumental in promoting and fostering strong quality cultures, positive behaviors, and a culture of quality excellence among project stakeholders.
• You assist in leading quality-related activities to provide effective support to the project, ensuring that quality standards are upheld throughout the project lifecycle.
• Outside the project organisation you are accountable for supporting departmental key activities, including participation in company-wide improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary support to Project Quality Manager in the execution of quality management within project.
• Act as the key contact for clients on quality matters in the absence of the Project Quality Manager, ensuring effective communication and alignment with project objectives.
• Support the execution of project quality plan.
• Establish, update, and maintain the Project Quality Audit Plan, conduct internal and external audits and follow up to ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
• Timely review quality-related documents submitted by Vendors.
• Conduct quality induction and awareness sessions on project quality requirements for all stakeholders, including Vendors and Subcontractors.
• Monitor & follow up on the resolution of quality notifications and escalations, ensuring adherence to processes.
• Analyze project quality performance, provide status updates on quality activities, and ensure timely reporting meeting department and project deadlines
• Actively engaged with internal stakeholders for quality related matters.
• Contribute to the qualification and selection of vendors/sub-contractors based on quality.
• Provide feedback and lessons learned to improve systems and tools within the discipline community.
• Participate in quality incident investigations and assist in resolving incidents promptly.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, science, or a related quality discipline, with a focus on quality management or relevant field.
• Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or equivalent standard, demonstrating proficiency in auditing quality management systems.

Experience

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, including at least 2 years in a senior level role. Proven project experience, demonstrating a strong understanding of Project Management.
• Fundamentals, Engineering principles, lifecycle and assurance processes, and construction processes, including fabrication and special processes.
• Proven expertise in Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9000, ISO/TS 29001, and ISO/IEC 80079-34, with in-depth knowledge of relevant processes and interfaces. Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of quality management principles, methodologies, and best practices, including quality assurance techniques.
• Demonstrated proficiency with quality investigation tools and methodologies, including handling investigations of non-conformance and major quality incidents. Well-versed in root cause analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and corrective action/preventive action (CAPA).
• Strong knowledge in welding, coating, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), preservation, and Ex (explosive atmospheres). Relevant certifications are an added advantage.
