Job description

We are looking for a talented, dedicated professional to be a Kuala Lumpur-based Project Officer. The post holder will work closely with the Grok Southeast Asia team and higher education institutions in supporting them to identify methods to reach their international diversity and enrollment goals.

About the Role

Reporting to the Associate Director / Senior Manager (Southeast Asia), the Project Officer is a new role that is part of Grok’s Southeast Asia team and provides the opportunity to work within the international education field. The role involves working with higher education institutions (including institutions that are part of Australia’s Group of Eight, UK’s Russell Group, etc.) and supporting them to identify methods to reach their international diversity and enrollment goals. This offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about international education to make meaningful impact in a dynamic and rapidly evolving global landscape – while equipping oneself with the relevant experience to become a university representative.

In addition to being involved in student recruitment activities, this role also involves market research, data analysis, and event management. Grok Project Officers have the opportunity to grow their expertise in market research and understand international student markets, helping you grow professionally.

We are looking for someone with strong written and oral communication skills, specifically in English, as well as someone that is intellectually curious and willing to take the initiative to learn and constantly improve.

Profile of Candidate

The ideal candidate is someone that is keen to learn more about international education and aspires to be a university representative but requires the opportunity to gain the necessary experience. This role is suitable for agency counsellors or school counsellors who wish to take on the challenge of being a university representative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support client activities: You will play a crucial role in executing recruitment strategies as directed by your line manager. This includes participating in student recruitment activities, delivering briefing/training on behalf of clients, communicating with key recruitment stakeholders, collaborating with different departments on projects such as alumni engagement, marketing, research, etc.;
  • Support Grok’s Global Advisory: You will be assigned tasks that support Grok’s Global Advisory function such as market research (through desk research), conducting interviews/surveys, data entry, data analysis, report writing, etc.;
  • Event planning and management: You will support planning and organizing events on behalf of Grok, e.g., staff retreat, school fairs, community engagement events, etc.; and
  • Stay abreast of new developments in the international education sector including maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Government education policies and local education trends.

Person Specification

The candidate should:

  • Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Come with at least 1 year of relevant experience in international education.
  • Possess strong command of spoken and written English.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, and enthusiasm to learn and excel in the higher education industry.
  • Display a genuine interest in market research and conducting surveys/interviews.
  • Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful insights.
  • Be outgoing, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Study abroad experience is desirable (but not essential).
