Job summary

Hitachi Energy Malaysia is seeking a Project Manager to lead transformer projects across Malaysia. You will manage projects from order handover through completion, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and compliance with contractual, quality, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of project management experience in power or industrial sectors, with strong stakeholder management and commercial acumen. Experience in transformers is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of project management experience in power, electrical, energy, or industrial sectors.
• Experience in transformers is strongly preferred, including manufacturing or services.

Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of transformer projects across Malaysia from initiation to completion.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, milestones, risks and deliverables.
• Act as primary customer interface for all project-related activities.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, logistics, quality and site teams.
• Monitor financial performance: cost control, revenue recognition, cash flow, invoicing and profitability.
• Drive proactive risk identification, mitigation planning and issue resolution.
• Manage contractual obligations, variations, claims and change orders.
• Ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy policies, project governance, quality standards and HSE.

Job Description:

At Hitachi Energy, we are looking for a Project Manager to lead the successful execution of transformer projects across Malaysia. This role will be responsible for managing projects from order handover through completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual, quality, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate will bring experience from the transformer industry and possess strong project management capabilities, stakeholder management skills, and commercial awareness. You will work closely with customers, factories, engineering teams, suppliers, and internal business partners to drive project success and customer satisfaction.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Lead the execution of transformer projects throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, milestones, risks, and deliverables.
• Act as the primary customer interface for all project-related activities.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, procurement, logistics, quality, and site teams.
• Monitor project financial performance, including cost control, revenue recognition, cash flow, invoicing, and profitability.

Your Background

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of project management experience within the power, electrical, energy, or industrial sectors.
• Experience in transformers is strongly preferred , including power transformers, distribution transformers, transformer manufacturing, transformer services, or related projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing customer-facing projects from initiation through completion.
• Strong understanding of project planning, cost control, budgeting, and risk management.
• Experience using SAP or other ERP platforms is an advantage.
• Knowledge of contractual and commercial aspects of project execution.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
