Project Manager Job Description
Scope of Work
- Planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and evaluating construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget.
- Preparing and submitting construction project budget estimates.
- Planning and preparing construction schedules and milestones, and monitoring progress against established schedules.
- Planning the work and overseeing the procurement of necessary materials and equipment.
- Ensuring the project is delivered on time and within budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing on budgets, and monitoring progress.
- Preparing contracts and negotiating revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Checking design documents with architects, surveyors, and engineers.
- Developing and implementing quality control programs.
- Managing the construction site daily, including supervising labor, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work, and overseeing quality control.
- Preparing progress reports and issuing schedules to clients.
- Maintaining regular communication and attending meetings with clients and their representatives regarding project progress.
- Communicating with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and other involved parties.
- Hiring and supervising subcontractors and subordinate staff.
- Promoting and maintaining health and safety standards, including conducting site inspections.
- Addressing unexpected problems during the project execution.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in building/construction-related fields.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, professionals, and workers on-site.
- Leadership skills to motivate teams and ensure high standards of work.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills for managing project plans and schedules.
- Resilience and problem-solving skills to handle challenges during construction.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail for site inspections and contract management.
- Awareness of health and safety legislation and procedures.
- Commercial awareness for budget management and client concerns.
- Numerical and IT skills, including knowledge of project management software (AutoCAD and Microsoft Project are advantages).
