Job description

About the Role:

We’re looking for a strategic and people-oriented Project Manager – Career Development to support and evolve software engineering practices across a high-performing technology organization. The primary focus of this role will be leading Career Pathing initiative for Project and Program Management. This involves close collaboration with HR, engineering leadership, and subject matter experts to ensure the career pathways reflect both cross-functional competencies and technical specializations unique to. Success in this role requires a strong understanding of evolving technology roles, emerging skills, and the ability to apply and tailor industry frameworks to meet specific needs.

This is a 6-month contract role to start with. As this is a parental leave replacement position there is no extension for the role at this time.

The Project & Program Management Career Pathway has already progressed from Discovery phase (problem statement, scope, planning & working group formation) to Build phase.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Drive the design and implementation of technical capability uplift programs and career development frameworks.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance engineering delivery, culture, and leadership support mechanisms.
  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and growth initiatives in alignment with organizational strategies.
  • Partner closely with senior engineering leadership, people teams, and cross-functional stakeholders across the region.
  • In addition to the Career Pathing initiative, the role may also contribute to the following projects and programs during H1 FY26: Rolling out new Learning & Development (L&D) metrics across the Technology organization. Implementing a new Promotion Framework for the Technology function. Supporting the launch of new Technology Graduate Program, scheduled for September 2025

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 7+ years’ experience in software development environments with exposure to engineering enablement or practices.
  • Background in HR Business Partnering, Organizational Development (OD), or Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD)
  • Proficient in Agile Project Management methodologies
  • Experience working with technology or digital job architecture
  • Proven track record of leading impactful, cross-functional initiatives within fast-paced, agile tech organizations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • A collaborative leader with a growth mindset, systems thinking approach, and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Proven expertise in role design and career path mapping
  • Strong facilitation and workshop delivery skills
  • Prior experience collaborating with software engineers and working across technology job families in digital or online businesses
  • Consulting experience is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with industry frameworks such as SFIA or Radford is a strong advantage
