Project Manager (based at Pasir Gudang, JB)

Overall Summary:

Responsible for the overall scope of projects and goals, overall project schedule and budget, internal and external stakeholders communication, regulatory approvals and compliance, risk management.

Responsibilities:

1. Overall planning, coordination and execution of projects including:

• Develop and monitor Project scope, goals and deliverables.
• Develop and monitor Project budget.
• Prepare and monitor Project schedule.
• Prepare and monitor Project organization chart and manpower requirement.
• Define project delivery and contracting strategy.
• Internal stakeholders’ communication and management.
• Liaise with relevant authorities for regulatory approvals and construction permits.

1. Maintain project risk register and highlight risks which require management’s intervention.
2. Facilitate procurement process by participating in contractor prequalification process, work packaging and technical evaluation.
3. All other duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements:

• Degree or higher in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering background, and possess a minimum of 10 years of engineering/construction experience in Process Industry, Industrial chemicals, petrochemical, Oil & Gas, and/or Oleochemicals.
• Proficient in areas of budgeting, scheduling, quality management and safety management in projects related to Palm Refinery/Oleochemicals/Specialty Fats; always ensuring optimization and achievement of projects’ performance and objectives.
• Preference for professionals with demonstrated ability (with proven track record on projects delivered) to effectively plan, execute, and deliver large construction projects (minimally USD 200mil in a single project) in the Oil & Gas, Palm Oil or Infrastructure industries. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.
• Have been in a managerial position before for at least 5 years, and have solid Greenfield project experience and providing strategic direction, coaching, and development to drive high performance and achieve project objectives.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques as per PMBOK will be an advantage. Experienced in implementing value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Also well-versed in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Scheduling software.
• Demonstrate ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop systems for achieving those goals. Have experience juggling multiple responsibilities simultaneously, stay focused on deadlines, and handle complex projects efficiently.
• Demonstrate ability to deal with, influence, and communicate effectively with key stakeholders. Experienced in team building, collaboration and conflict management. Possess good communication and interpersonal skills, with good command of English, Bahasa Malaysia/Indonesia, and Mandarin.
• Commitment to safety with a track record of ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
