The Project Manager will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects at Dexcom’s facilities (Cleanroom Specific). This role involves managing the design, development, and construction of new buildings, CQV, T&C towards full handover of the systems and buildings that include the Project Control (Budget, Cost, Schedule & Changes Management). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Project Management, construction management, facilities development, and vendor management, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget while adhering to all relevant regulations and company standards. The PM is required to work collaboratively with real estate, planning, engineering, maintenance, EHSS, Operation and manufacturing teams across Dexcom portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Development: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, budgets, and timelines for construction and facility expansion projects.
- Design & Construction Management: Oversee all phases of construction, including design coordination, permitting, contractor management, and ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Contractor/Vendor Management: Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors. Manage vendor selection, contract negotiations, and performance to ensure project success. Ability to prepare the tender documents, RFP for the scopes needed and related technical and commercial evaluation and recommendation.
- Budget & Cost Control: Develop and manage project budgets. Track expenditures and ensure projects are completed within financial constraints, including cost forecasting and change order management.
- Project Scheduling: Create and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring all milestones are met and project timelines are adhered.
- Quality & Safety Assurance: Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and complies with regulatory and safety requirements. Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality. Able to review and update related documentation and guidelines where applicable & ensure the full execution and compliance to the company guidelines on Safety (EHSS) and Quality.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle, including design issues, budget overruns, or contractor performance problems.
- Communication & Reporting: Act as the primary point of contact for all project-related matters, providing regular updates and detailed project reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Sustainability & Efficiency: Promote and implement sustainable building practices, ensuring energy efficiency and environmental responsibility are considered in all construction projects
- PM shall be capable to handle and manage a group of Resources in the Project and able to report and present the necessary update and escalation needed for Senior Management in the company.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil or MEP Engineering, Architecture, or related field. A master’s degree in Project Management or MBA is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in project and construction management, ideally in life sciences, medical devices, or a high-tech environment.
- Experience managing construction projects for Production Manufacturing Plant and Cleanroom facilities is a preference, or commercial, industrial, manufacturing and similar building.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM (Certified Construction Manager), or LEED accreditation are advantageous.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles, including project scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Proficiency with construction project management software (e.g., P6, Microsoft Project, Aconex, BIM360, Procore, Bluebeam), including but not limited to RSMeans, CSI, and AutoCAD.
- Experience managing complex construction projects, from design through completion.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage contractors, negotiate contracts, and work with cross-functional teams including the project Management team.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of delivering clear updates to executives and stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance related to construction.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ISO regulations, particularly in medical device or pharmaceutical environments.
- Project Management & Construction Management knowledge, leadership and specialty in similar type of buildings.
- Knowledge of sustainable building practices and LEED certification processes and FM Global Compliance.
- Experience with facility expansions, renovations, and greenfield construction.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in both office and on-site construction environments.
- Willingness to travel between Dexcom locations as necessary to oversee projects.
- Ability to handle, manage and monitor Project Management Resources related to the project.
