Project Engineer - Marine, Essex, £35,000 Circa + Benefits
Unknown Resourcing is seeking a Project Engineer - Marine for our leading R&D Engineering client in Essex. The Project Engineer – Marine opportunity is an exciting permanent position to contribute to the advancement of future Marine Hydrogen technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for Mechanical Design and Project Engineering of future transportation Hydrogen development projects.
You will ideally have experience in the following: Hydrogen / H2, Sustainable, Renewable Energy, or Decarbonisation (advantageous).
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to projects as required, including BOM control and management of subcontract design and analysis activity.
- Assist in the design and analysis of systems, including component selection, system integration, and performance optimisation.
- Provide solutions for in-field failures and issues on company products and projects.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical challenges and product issues/failures observed during operation, and propose innovative solutions.
- Support the introduction of solutions into products/projects under the supervision of the Principal Engineer.
- Work closely and consult with cross-functional teams, including design, electrical, procurement, the workshop, and external partners, to achieve project objectives.
- Participate in testing protocols, data collection, and validation efforts to ensure the reliability and safety of the dual fuel systems.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes and ensure projects meet regulatory and industry standards.
- Provide reports on work carried out, and maintain data pertaining to design, development, and calibration work in line with business requirements.
- Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety and Quality & Environmental policies relevant to the work areas.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Strong interest and passion in decarbonisation and robust technologies used for harsh environments (high TRL technologies).
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and teamwork abilities.
- Familiarity with engineering software tools (Matlab/Simulink) and CAD design (e.g., CATIA/Solidworks) is a plus.
- Knowledge of hydrogen safety protocols and regulations (advantageous).
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
- Flexible to adapt to a fast-changing industry, bringing new ideas to development teams.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
