Project Engineer (High-Rise Development)

Job summary

Upscale Sdn Bhd is seeking a competent Project Engineer to support high-rise property development and construction projects in Kuala Lumpur. You will coordinate C&S, M&E, architectural and building works, ensuring alignment with drawings, specs, quality standards and schedules.

Collaborate with consultants, contractors, authorities and internal teams to ensure smooth execution, monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and assist in testing, handover and DLP activities as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in civil/structural/mechanical/electrical/building engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in property development or building construction.
• C&S or M&E backgrounds welcomed with coordination understanding.
• Experience in high-rise residential/commercial/mixed-use developments is a plus.
• Interpretation of C&S, M&E & architectural drawings and identify issues.
• Knowledge of construction methods, site coordination, inspections and project implementation.
• Strong communication and coordination with consultants, contractors and authorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD, BIM or project management software is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor C&S, M&E, architectural and building works throughout project implementation.
• Monitor site progress and ensure works align with drawings, specs, quality standards and schedules.
• Liaise with architects, consultants, contractors, subcontractors and stakeholders on technical matters.
• Review drawings, method statements, material submissions and identify discrepancies or coordination issues.
• Coordinate and resolve interfaces between C&S, M&E and architectural works to minimise conflicts and delays.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress monitoring, follow up on workmanship and quality issues.
• Monitor contractors' performance and report delays or risks to the Project Manager.
• Attend site and coordination meetings and follow up on action items.
• Assist in coordinating authority inspections and approvals during project implementation.
• Support testing, commissioning, handover and DLP activities where required.
• Maintain and update project records and documentation including drawings and reports.

Purpose of Role

To support the coordination, monitoring and implementation of high-rise property development and construction projects, ensuring works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, quality standards and project timelines.

The role involves working closely with consultants, contractors, authorities and internal project teams to ensure smooth and timely project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• 1. Coordinate and monitor C&S, M&E, architectural and building works throughout project implementation.
• 2. Monitor site progress and ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, technical specifications, quality standards and project schedules.
• 3. Liaise and coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, subcontractors and other project stakeholders on technical and construction matters.
• 4. Review and understand construction and architectural drawings, method statements, material submissions and technical documents and identify any discrepancies or coordination issues.
• 5. Coordinate and resolve technical issues and interfaces between C&S, M&E and architectural works to minimise conflicts, delays and rework.
• 6. Conduct regular site inspections and progress monitoring and follow up on workmanship, technical and construction quality issues.
• 7. Monitor contractors' performance, work progress and outstanding matters and report any delays, risks or technical issues to the Project Manager.
• 8. Attend site, technical and coordination meetings and ensure agreed action items are properly followed up and resolved.
• 9. Assist in coordinating authority requirements, inspections, testing and compliance with relevant regulations and approval conditions during project implementation.
• 10. Support testing and commissioning, project handover, defect rectification and Defects Liability Period (DLP) activities where required.
• 11. Maintain and update project records and documentation including drawings, reports, approvals, progress records and technical documents

Requirements

• 1. Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Building Engineering or related discipline.
• 2. Preferably 3–5 years of experience in property development or building construction.
• 3. Candidates with C&S or M&E backgrounds are welcome, with a good understanding of both disciplines and their coordination requirements.
• 4. Experience in high-rise residential, commercial or mixed-use developments is an advantage.
• 5. Able to interpret C&S, M&E and architectural drawings and identify technical or coordination issues.
• 6. Good knowledge of construction methods, site coordination, inspections, testing and project implementation.
• 7. Strong communication, problem-solving and coordination skills with the ability to liaise with consultants, contractors and authorities.
• 8. Proficient in Microsoft Office knowledge of AutoCAD, BIM or project management software is an advantage.
