Job description

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as an Automation Engineer at Pentamaster Corporation Berhad in Batu Kawan.

The Automation Engineer will be expertise and responsible for PLC programming, software support, machine commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation related to software programming.

PC-based software engineers are also welcome to apply, as we value diverse skills in automation software development.

As an Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation and ongoing support of automation systems, helping our clients achieve efficient and effective operations.

Key Responsibility

  1. PLC Programming: Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC applications for various automation systems and machinery. Ensure that the programs are optimized for performance and reliability.
  2. Software Support: Provide technical support to customers regarding automation software, including troubleshooting and resolving software-related issues. Offer guidance on system configurations and functionality.
  3. Machine Commissioning: Lead the commissioning process for automation systems, ensuring successful system integration and that all components function as intended. Perform tests and make adjustments as needed to ensure optimal performance.
  4. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve software and system-related issues during installation and in the field. Provide timely and efficient solutions to minimize downtime for customers.
  5. Documentation: Prepare and maintain clear, accurate documentation for software programs, system configurations, and project changes. This includes writing user manuals, system manuals, and other technical documents.
  6. Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams including project managers, engineers, and technical staff to ensure the seamless execution of automation projects.
  7. Customer Interaction: Work closely with customers to understand their automation needs and provide tailored solutions. Provide training and support to ensure customers can effectively use the software.

Qualification

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  2. Proven experience in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar).
  3. Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in machine commissioning.
  4. Proficiency with automation software and systems integration.
  5. Experience in providing customer support for automation and software-related issues.
  6. Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar) OR
  2. PC-based software engineering experience, including knowledge of programming languages such as C++, Python, or .NET for automation and control applications.
  3. Knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems.
  4. Experience with motion control and robotics.
  5. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., PROFINET, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP).
