A leading company in the FMCG sector is seeking a Project Engineer to oversee multiple projects from design to commissioning. The role entails executing project scopes within agreed timelines and budgets while coordinating with various stakeholders. Ideal candidates are expected to have a degree in engineering and approximately four years of relevant experience in the manufacturing sector, particularly within F&B. Project Engineer main role is to lead assign projects with agreed timeline, budget and success criteria, from design phase right up to commissioning phase, and ultimately hand over completed project to stake holders. Project Engineer is also to provide support to Engineering Manager in project coordination as well as managing stake holders' expectations.
Project Engineer is expected to be able to work extra hours, or even weekends to ensure smooth project execution phase.
Job Description
Lead assigned projects
Assist the Engineering Manager in executing project scopes according to planned timelines, budget, and quality standards.
Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders during installation, testing, and commissioning.
Maintain project documentation, daily site activity records, and progress reports.
Technical & Engineering Support
Support the review of technical drawings, layout plans, P&IDs, and BOQs.
Facilitate alignment between Engineering, QA, and Maintenance functions regarding technical compliance.
Escalate design or site execution issues to the Engineering Manager for resolution.
Prepare and issue Purchase Requisitions (PR) for project-related materials and services.
Lead the development of Supplier Selection Worksheets (SSW) for vendor comparison, justification, and approval in accordance with internal procurement policy.
Coordinate with procurement and vendors to ensure timely delivery and compliance to scope.
Supervise site activities during installation, utility tie-ins, and shutdowns.
Monitor contractor compliance with hygiene zones, food safety standards, and site safety protocols.
Report any safety, quality, or scope deviations.
Keep records of installation progress, inspections, and markups.
Support the closure of punch list items by coordinating corrections and verifying completion before final handover.
Assist in preparing commissioning reports, handover documents, and as-built submissions.
Job Requirements
-Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
-Approximately 4 years of cross-functional project-related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the F&B sector.
-Familiar with food plant utilities such as steam, chilled water, compressed air, and CIP systems.
-Strong coordination and execution mindset under managerial supervision.
-Understanding of food hygiene and sanitary design standards (e.g., GMP, HACCP, EHEDG).
-Capable of effective site monitoring and contractor communication.
-Proficient in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and relevant project tracking tools.
-Willingness to work weekends and public holidays when project schedules demand
-Extended working hours may be required during:
-Commissioning or urgent milestones
-Flexibility and commitment are expected, especially during critical project phases.
